Best QR Code Generators in 2026: 10 Tools Compared

The best QR code generators in 2026 compared on free plans, editing after printing, scan tracking, billing and what happens to your codes when you stop paying.

Scan to shop

The best QR code generator depends on one question: will you ever need to change where the code points? If not, a free static generator like QR Code Monkey or Adobe Express is enough, and the code never expires. If you're printing menus, packaging or signs, you need a dynamic generator that lets you edit the destination and see scans, and then the details that matter are the free plan, the billing terms and what happens to your printed codes when you stop paying.

That last point is where most people get caught out. Dynamic codes depend on the company that made them, and a code that stops redirecting after a trial ends or a subscription lapses is a printed dead end. So this comparison looks past the feature lists at the terms you'll live with after printing.

We make QRvora, one of the tools below. Weigh our view of it accordingly. Every fact about the other nine comes from their own website, checked on the date shown, and their strengths are listed as plainly as ours.

How we compared the tools

We looked at what decides whether a generator works for a printed code over months and years, not just on day one:

  1. Static or dynamic. Can you change the destination after printing?
  2. Free plan. Is there one, and what does it actually include?
  3. Billing. Monthly, or annual only? Is there a trial?
  4. After you stop paying. Do the vendor's published terms say what happens to dynamic codes?
  5. Design and export. Logos, colours, frames, and print-ready files like SVG and PDF.
  6. Tracking and integrations. Scan analytics, an API, webhooks and tools like Zapier.

Prices change often and vary by region, so we describe each plan's structure and link to the vendor's pricing page instead of quoting figures that go stale. Facts were checked on October 9, 2026 unless stated otherwise.

Best free QR code generators (static codes)

A static code holds its content in the printed pattern, so it works forever and needs no account. These three are the strongest free options. The trade-off is the same for all of them: once printed, the destination can't change, and you can't see how many people scan.

1. QR Code Monkey

Best for: a free, well-designed static code in under a minute.

QR Code Monkey is one of the best-known free generators. Static codes are free and stated to never expire, and there's no plan to compare.

  • What it does well: logo upload or a logo gallery, gradients, custom eye colours and shapes, and downloads in PNG, SVG, PDF and EPS. EPS is a format some print shops still ask for.
  • Keep in mind: editing the destination and scan tracking aren't in the free generator. Their page points to a separate professional product for those.

Full comparison: QRvora vs QR Code Monkey.

2. Adobe Express

Best for: making a code while you design the flyer or poster around it.

Adobe Express has a free QR code generator for any link (checked October 16, 2026).

  • What it does well: style and colour options, frames, a logo in the centre, and downloads as PNG, JPEG or PDF, all next to Adobe's design templates.
  • Keep in mind: Adobe says plainly that it generates static codes, so the destination can't be changed after printing, and the page doesn't mention scan tracking.

3. Canva

Best for: dropping a code straight into a Canva design.

Canva's QR tool creates codes inside the editor (checked October 16, 2026).

  • What it does well: static codes are free in any design. Canva's help pages also describe dynamic codes, which you can update and track, on its Business, Enterprise and Nonprofit plans.
  • Keep in mind: Canva's help centre states that a static code's link can't be edited after creation, so a changed link means a new code and a reprint. Several QR companies, including Bitly, QR TIGER and Hovercode, also offer apps inside Canva for dynamic codes.

Best dynamic QR code generators

A dynamic code holds a short link, and the generator's server sends each scan on to your real destination. That's what lets you change the destination after printing and count scans. It also means the code depends on the service, so the terms after you stop paying matter as much as the features.

4. QRvora

Best for: small businesses that want codes they can edit, honest terms and monthly billing.

This is our product, so here are the facts from our own pricing page:

  • Free plan: 1 dynamic code with scan analytics, live for 12 months from the day you create it, plus free static codes with no expiry. No card needed, and a 7-day Pro trial.
  • Billing: $9, $19 or $39 a month, cancel anytime, or yearly from $79.
  • After you stop paying: written in our pricing and terms. Codes keep redirecting for 30 days after you cancel, and you're told before anything stops.
  • Hosted pages: menus, PDFs, link-in-bio, business pages, events, coupons, feedback, app downloads, MP3 and more, all editable after printing.
  • For developers and automation: a REST API from the Starter plan, signed scan webhooks from Pro, and a Zapier app (in beta).

Where others are ahead: QR TIGER gives more dynamic codes free (3 against our 1), QR Code Generator PRO and QRFY advertise more code types, and Uniqode and Flowcode go further into enterprise CRM integrations. We're also newer than every other tool on this list.

5. QR TIGER

Best for: the most dynamic codes on a free plan.

  • What it does well: 3 dynamic codes and unlimited static codes free, a lower-priced entry paid plan, higher code counts on its middle plan, your own domain on every paid plan, and integrations with Zapier, HubSpot and Canva.
  • Keep in mind: free dynamic codes are limited to 500 scans each and show a QR TIGER logo pop-up. Their pricing page doesn't publish what happens to codes when a plan ends.

6. QR Code Generator PRO

Best for: the widest range of QR code types from an established provider.

  • What it does well: 22 QR code types, a long track record and a very large user base, with Bitly behind it. Higher plans have unlimited scans and bulk creation of up to 500 codes, and enterprise options list GDPR, CCPA and SOC 2.
  • Keep in mind: no free plan, but a 14-day trial with no card needed. Their entry plan is monthly; the two higher plans are billed annually. The entry plan includes 2 dynamic codes, and the API starts on their Advanced plan. Terms for codes after a trial or cancellation aren't published on their pricing page.

7. QRFY

Best for: a broad catalogue of content types, including direct video upload.

  • What it does well: more advertised content types than most, including playlists, product pages and a general landing-page builder, plus direct video upload (advertised up to 300 MB per file), a larger frame library, EPS export and folder-level team permissions.
  • Keep in mind: no free plan is listed, only a 7-day trial, and plans are billed for 3, 6 or 12 months rather than monthly. No grace period after cancellation was published when we checked (August 2, 2026).

Full comparison: QRvora vs QRFY.

8. QR.io

Best for: unlimited dynamic codes for a small team.

  • What it does well: unlimited dynamic codes and 5 team members on its paid plan, an API included, monthly or yearly billing, and a 7-day money-back guarantee.
  • Keep in mind: there's no free plan, just a 7-day trial, and you need an account to download a code. Their pricing page says static codes keep working after the trial; terms for dynamic codes aren't published there.

Full comparison: QRvora vs QR.io.

9. Flowcode

Best for: marketing teams who want codes, landing pages and design tools in one place.

  • What it does well: a free plan with up to 2 codes, up to 50 codes on its first paid plan, 3 collaboration seats, native CRM and CDP integrations on higher plans, and a wider marketing toolset with landing pages and a design studio.
  • Keep in mind: free analytics cover up to 500 scans, the API starts on the Growth plan, and the Growth plan is billed annually only. Terms for codes after cancelling aren't published on their pricing page.

Full comparison: QRvora vs Flowcode.

10. Uniqode

Best for: larger organisations that need enterprise integrations and invoicing.

  • What it does well: CRM integrations including Salesforce, Microsoft Entra ID, invoice billing, digital business cards with a free tier, a 30-day money-back guarantee and a long record with larger companies.
  • Keep in mind: plans are annual only, according to their pricing page, and their pricing FAQ says dynamic codes become inactive when a trial expires or a subscription is cancelled. Lower plans include 1 user, and a custom domain is a paid add-on on the Plus plan.

How to choose the best QR code generator

Answer these five questions and the right tool usually picks itself:

  1. Will the destination ever change? If there's any chance, print a dynamic code. See static vs dynamic QR codes.
  2. How long will the print stay up? For anything up for months, read what happens to your codes after a trial ends or you cancel. If the vendor doesn't say, ask before you print.
  3. Do you need to know if it works? Scan counts by day, place and device turn a printed code into something you can measure. See our guide to QR code tracking.
  4. How will you pay? Annual-only plans cost more up front and are harder to leave. Monthly billing lets you stop when the campaign ends.
  5. Who else is involved? Teams need seats; developers need an API; marketers may need Zapier or a CRM.

Before printing anything dynamic, find the sentence in the vendor's terms that says what happens to your codes when you stop paying. If you can't find it, that's your answer.

Free vs paid QR code generators

Free static generators are genuinely free and the codes don't expire, because nothing stands behind them. Free dynamic plans are different: they're a sample of a paid service, and each one sets limits on code count, scans, branding or how long the code keeps working.

Common questions

What is the best free QR code generator?

For static codes, QR Code Monkey and Adobe Express are both free, add logos and colours, and make codes that never expire. If you need to edit the code after printing, look at free dynamic plans instead: QR TIGER includes 3 dynamic codes, Flowcode 2 and QRvora 1, each with different limits.

What is the best dynamic QR code generator?

It depends on what you need around the code. For the widest choice of code types, QR Code Generator PRO or QRFY. For enterprise integrations, Uniqode. For monthly billing and published terms after you stop paying, QRvora. Compare the free plan, billing and post-cancellation terms side by side before deciding.

Do QR codes from free generators expire?

Static codes don't: the content is in the printed pattern, so they work as long as the destination exists. Dynamic codes can stop if the service behind them ends or you stop paying. Our guide on why QR codes stop working covers what to check.

Which file format is best for printing a QR code?

SVG or PDF for print shops and anything large, because they stay sharp at any size. PNG is fine for home printing at the size you downloaded. See how to print a QR code.

Is QRvora affiliated with the other tools?

No. QRvora isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any company named here. Their names are used only to identify their products.

Pick the generator that fits what you're printing

For a Wi-Fi card or a one-off link, a free static generator is all you need. For anything printed in quantity or left up for months, choose a dynamic generator, and choose it on its terms as much as its features.

If QRvora sounds like a fit, you can create a free dynamic QR code, see your scans, and check our pricing for exactly what happens to your codes when you stop paying.
